Purasangre—meaning Spanish for “thoroughbred”—is a pot-distilled highland tequila brand established in 1991 and produced by Tequileña (NOM 1146) in Tequila, Jalisco, from 100% estate-grown Blue Weber agave. The fully matured agaves, grown at elevations over 5,200 feet, are harvested with slightly higher sugar levels than in other Tequileña brands, resulting in richer, sweeter tequilas that speak to the specificity of their terroir.
