Didier Gimonnet directs this superb estate, located in the Premier Cru of Cuis. With 29.4 hectares of holdings in Grand and Premier Cru villages, predominantly in the Côte des Blancs, Didier’s family has been growing grapes in Champagne since 1750. It was Pierre Gimonnet, Didier’s grandfather, who started bottling estate Champagnes in 1935.

Gimonnet’s outstanding wines are built on the strength of the terroir that he and his brother have expanded in the heart of the Côte des Blancs.

90% Pinot Noir, 10% Chardonnay

Aged 30+ months on the lees

The 2019 Champagne Cuvée Paradoxe Brut is, as the name suggests, a departure from the house range, coming in as 90% Pinot Noir from Aÿ and the rest Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs. On opening, it displays a deeper straw hue, although it’s not over extracted. Aromas open to blackcurrant, brioche, rosemary, and crushed stone, and on the palate the wine is medium to full-bodied and ripe with a grapefruit citrus tone, an expanding mousse, and a long finish that closes with a savory flourish. This lovely wine retains the elegance of the Gimmonet range.  - JD 93 pts
