Domaine Gérard & Hubert Thirot is located in Bue, in the Sancerre appellation, in the Loire Valley, France. Bue is famous for its hills, perfect for growing grapes, with great sun exposure and protection from the elements. The soil there is very rich in minerality, composed mainly of clay and chalk, as well as small rocks, which give the wines their acclaimed typicality. Hubert Thirot is the 4th generation running the estate, producing classic white Sancerre from the 9 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc the family owns.
Delicate mineral notes of chalk and slate with good citrus and melon in the nose. Fairly rich in the middle with nice snap. Firm acidity brace this wine so that it will stand up to and marry well with fish, shellfish and goat cheese. The wine is quite floral and high toned in the nose while having a rich, full-bodied middle.
