One of just three producers in the village of Igé, Domaine Fichet is a regional pillar that occupies some of the oldest and most reputable terroirs in the Mâconnais. From those esteemed sites, brothers Pierre-Yves and Olivier Fichet craft classic white and red Burgundy, plus complex Gamay and fresh Aligoté. Some estates date back decades. But Fichet traces their winemaking lineage back centuries. In 1408, before the great artists of the Renaissance, a man named Stéphus Fichet started producing artistry of his own, crafting wines from several plots the family still owns.
From a plot of Chardonnay planted in 1988 by Francis and Pierre-Yves. Only vine not AOP of the Domaine, this is a Vin de France. We want to give this cuvée a wine that is fond, fruity, young and fresh. With appetizers, grilled fish, seafood, Burgundy snails and goat cheese from Macon, this wine will delight the Chardonnay enthusiast.
Gally's tip: Sustainably farmed. This vineyard is on the edge of what would be a Mâconnais White Burgundy but due to it not being classified its labeled just as Chardonnay. High quality producer and a great price.
