Our mission is to create wines that evoke a sense of place. Intriguing, clean, balanced, and accessible, Grounded Wine Co. produces terroir-driven wines with an emphasis on quality and experience. By winemaker, Josh Phelps.
Our vineyards on Red Mountain and in the Columbia Valley yielded smaller crops in the 2020 vintage, due to a large 2019 crop and some inclement weather at bloom. Bud
break in mid-April and warm weather through the summer months allowed for steady, gradual maturation. Higher temperatures in September, combined with smaller clusters and berries, resulted in a high skin-to-juice ratio, which explains the concentration and deep color of this wine.
The 2020 Collusion Cabernet Sauvignon is medium garnet in color, with a slight violet edge. While the wine displays intense aromas of ripe plum and blackberry bramble, it retains an excellent youthful freshness. The Malbec component adds significant depth and fleshes out the wine nicely. Warm notes of plums and blueberries continue to
emerge on the palate. This wine is big-shouldered, but it retains a refined elegance and good tension on the palate; ultra fine, ripe tannins add a silkiness to the finish.
73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot
"The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Collusion is good at any price point. At this price point, it's exceptionally good, showing a shy nose of cooler-climate, red-fruited personality, from currant and cassis to cedar, tobacco leaf, and graphite. The tannins are approachable in their youth, providing structure without getting in the way of drinking pleasure. This is a great house wine or by the glass pour. "- Jeb Dunnuck 91pts
