Nestled in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, once famed then lost to time, Charmail carries the voice of the Bordeaux's “Forgotten Village.” Among gravel slopes and river light, we cultivate resilience and renewal, letting each vintage speak for those who came before.
In 2021, the Goudet-Liquard family, led by Valérie Liquard and supported by her younger brother Vivien, entered a partnership with Bernard d’Halluin, bringing a deeply personal connection to the Médoc. For Valérie, this was more than an investment; it was a true homecoming. Having grown up among the vineyards of the Médoc, she had always dreamed of returning to the land that shaped her childhood. “It’s a matter of the heart,” she explained. “There is something so special about Charmail... it’s not just the land, but also the history and the future we see here. Coming back and being part of this is a dream come true.”
The 2020 Charmail vintage embodies a bold and confident persona, rich with complexity and depth. This vintage is like a charismatic leader who commands attention with a blend of intensity and sophistication. With an alluring bouquet of dark fruits, spices, and floral notes, the 2020 Charmail is both powerful and refined. Its polished tannins and well-integrated oak offer a balanced structure that promises a long-lasting, elegant finish. This vintage is dynamic, with a vibrant energy that shines through in every sip, making it a memorable and striking wine.
