Founded in 2011, brick & mortar focuses on single-vineyard Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, from select high-elevation vineyards. Like the great European wineries, they believe that the best wines express a unique time and place. So they let each of their distinct Napa Valley, Sonoma Coast, and Mendocino Ridge vineyards speak for themselves, with minimal intervention. They pick early, ferment with native yeasts, and use oak and sulfur judiciously, resulting in low-alcohol wines of grace and finesse.

The fruit for the 2021 Brut Nature is a several single vineyard sites that we work with throughout Sonoma Coast, Anderson Valley, Napa Valley and Mendocino Ridge AVAs. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the high elevation (1400-2000 feet) sites of Cougar Rock Vineyard on Atlas Peak, and Manchester Ridge Vineyard on Mendocino Ridge are the backbone to the wine, rounded out with fruit from the organic West Block and Home Vineyard in Sonoma Coast, and Deep End sites in Anderson Valley.

The 2021 Brut Nature is racy and ebullient. Flavors are tightly wound with a rich core of acidity. The palate is rich and powerful, combining flavors of pink and yellow fruits, apricot, red apple and strawberry with citrus. Toasted macadamia, delicate hard spice and baked apple cake create a complex nose that is early in its life.
